Primary School No. 5 in Ełk

Primary School No. 5 in Ełk is located in the north-east of Poland. 728 pupils aged from 5 to 13 attend to school. Our main aim is to help pupils to acquire the knowledge and develop the skills they need to continue their education as well as prepare to participate fully in adult life. We strongly support children with special educational needs. Important for us is the idea of integrating health promotion into every aspect of the school life. We take part in Health Promoting Schools Project and provide physical education not only during PE lessons but also at sports clubs and sports classes using well-equipped sport facilities both at school and close neighbourhood . In our school pupils benefit from a wide range of after lessons clubs and activities which develop their talents and skills. Besides, teaching staff takes care of raising pupils’ awareness of local heritage. Being in the project allows us to break down language and cultural barriers. We believe that through the project we impress healthy lifestyle habits on our pupils for now and their further life. It would be a chance to exchange experiences how sport influences the curriculum in other partner schools.
